The following organisation provides information and advocacy for older persons in the Canberra region:

Council on the Ageing ACT

Council on the Ageing ACT (COTA) protects and promotes the well-being, rights and interests of all older people in the Canberra region. COTA ACT does this by:


• raising issues concerning older persons in the media, with the Government, and the community
• making submissions to Government on issues that affect older persons
• providing Seniors Information Services and running information sessions in the community
• managing the Seniors Discount Directory
• offering a Housing Options Advisory Service
• running the Strength for Life exercise program

Clubs

A number of clubs are active in the Canberra community, offering activities, classes and companionship for older persons

Probus

Probus Clubs aim to keep minds and bodies active through social interaction with fellow retirees. There are many clubs all over Canberra.
