Food Pantries and Hampers

Food emergency support is available from food co-ops and pantries if you are:

  • a client of a community services organisation 
  • receiving some form of government payments
  • an individual or family escaping family violence 
  • a refugee or migrant
  • a carer of individuals with COVID-19 or disability, health challenges or chronic illnesses 
  • a person whose employment has been impacted by COVID-19.

The Early Morning Centre

During the COVID-19 pandemic The Early Morning Centre is open for takeaway breakfasts between 7.30am – 8.30am Monday to Friday in the Canberra City Uniting Church building.

Canberra Roadhouse

The Australian Red Cross provides a free evening meal at the Roadhouse in Griffin Centre in the city. Meals are served between 3.00 - 5:45 pm Monday and Wednesdays, 4.00 - 5.45 pm Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sundays. There is no service on Fridays.

Night Patrol Vans

Night Patrol Vans operate 7 nights per week, visiting various locations across Canberra and Queanbeyan. The Night Patrol hands out drinks, sandwiches, fruit, clothing items, sleeping bags, blankets, and hygiene packs. Times and locations vary across the week, see their website for more information.
