The Field

The Field is an accessible employment platform for people with disability who are seeking jobs. Both job candidates and employers can register on The Field. Job candidates can represent themselves in a format of their choice and nominate the way they will be interviewed.

RecruitAbility

The RecruitAbility scheme is designed to attract people with disability to apply for employment in the Australian Public Service (APS) and to promote disability awareness and cultural change in APS recruitment teams.

IncludeAbility

IncludeAbility aims to increase access to meaningful employment opportunities for people with a disability. The program has developed resources to support people with disability to find a job and progress their careers, and works with public and private sector organisations to address barriers to employment for people with disability.

Employment Assistance Fund

The Employment Assistance Fund provides financial support to people with disability and mental ill-health, and their employers, for employment-related support services, equipment, Auslan services and modifications. This fund can be used both when you are about to start a job and throughout your employment.

PACE Mentoring

The Australian Network on Disability's PACE program connects job seekers with a disability to mentors from leading Australian businesses. The program allows mentees to gain workplace exposure and develop their employment skills.

Supported Wage System

The Supported Wage System allows employers to pay you a wage based on your productivity. A fair arrangement for both employer and employee is determined by an external assessor.

Internships

The Australian Network on Disability's Stepping into Internship program is a paid internship scheme matching university students with disability with roles in leading Australian businesses, giving students work experience during study.

School Leaver Employment Services

SLES supports year 12 school leavers with significant disabilities to transition from school to employment. Individual supports tailored to each participant’s goals are provided for up to two years. The supports aim to build working lifestyle skills and participants complete unpaid work experience to improve their vocational skills. SLES is funded by the NDIS and participants usually receive funding for 3 days per week. After completion of the SLES program, participants usually transition to the Disability Employment Service program. SLES Providers in the ACT include:

Disability Employment Services

The Australian Government funds the Disability Employment Services (DES) program to help people with disability find and keep a job.

If you qualify for DES, your DES provider will help you with career advice, getting ready for work, developing your CV and training opportunities. Your DES provider will help you look for a job and provide ongoing support at work until you are confident in your new job. Support at work through DES might also include funding for workplace modifications and wage subsidies.
