About the role
We are seeking an Intake and Information Officer to join our team on a full-time basis at our office in Weston, ACT. This is a vital frontline position that forms the first point of contact for clients accessing ADACAS services. As an Intake and Information Officer, you will play a crucial role in assessing client needs, gathering essential information, and directing individuals to appropriate support services. This role is central to ensuring clients receive timely, accurate guidance and are connected with the resources they require.
What you’ll be doing
- Conducting comprehensive intake interviews with clients to understand their circumstances, concerns and support needs
- Gathering and recording detailed and accurate information from clients in a confidential and professional manner
- Assessing client eligibility for various support services and programs
- Providing information about ADACAS services, community resources and external support options available to clients
- Referring clients to appropriate internal teams or external organisations based on identified needs
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records using our information management systems
- Responding to telephone, email and in-person enquiries from clients and the general public
- Providing clear, empathetic communication to clients who may be experiencing distress or vulnerability
- Collaborating with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and follow-up for clients
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of information resources and documentation
What we’re looking for
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and empathetically with people from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping abilities, with meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency in using computer systems and information management software
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgements whilst following established protocols and procedures
- Knowledge of community services, support systems and resources relevant to the local area
- Experience in a customer service, administration or support role, ideally in a community or not-for-profit setting
- A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Strong listening skills and the capacity to summarise and clarify complex information
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment
- Reliability and professional demeanour in all interactions
