ADACAS provides advocacy to people who live in the surrounding regions of NSW, including the Southern Highlands and the South Coast. We do this on behalf of Information on Disability Education and Awareness Services (IDEAS). If you live in NSW, have a disability and are looking for support or information then the first step is to contact IDEAS.
IDEAS assists people who live in South East Sydney, South West Sydney, Illawarra or Southern NSW to find appropriate support. They also maintain extensive resources on disability, which are available via their website.
When you call IDEAS an intake officer will take note of your details, write it up and then identify the appropriate advocacy organisation to which they may broker their services. If you live in the vicinity of Canberra, they may ask ADACAS to assist you. They will then contact you to notify you of their progress with finding an advocate for you. If ADACAS takes your case, one of our advocates will work with you on your issue. They may come and visit you and will also do the work from our Canberra office.
If you need an interpreter please call the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) on 131 450 and have them contact IDEAS on 1800 029 904 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Adacas provides help and support to people with disabilities, the elderly and their carers.
Advocacy is about helping a person to be heard in the decisions that affect their life. Advocacy aims to increase a person’s control over goods, services and quality of life
